Different Kinds of Multi-factor Authentication Tools Compared
An analysis of three different MFA vendors
You have completed your journey of understanding what MFA is and now you want to review different options for MFA products, welcome! It is our goal to list a few options for you and describe the differences to load you with the info you need to make a decision.
DUO from Cisco
Duo is an MFA security option provided by Cisco. At AbleIT we have experience implementing many DUO accounts. It comes at a relatively low cost and provides the following functions; verifies user trust, establishes device trust, enforces adaptive policies, secures access for every user and secures access to every application. It is well supported and very easy to use. DUO is AbleIT preferred MFA vendor.
RSA Authentication Manager
RSA offers two kinds of licenses base and enterprise. RSA is typically the more expensive option but it has been around the longest and has millions of tokens in service. You can buy a web-based version or a hardware-based appliance. RSA is a little more robust in the applications it supports with over 400 partnerships, this value may balance out the higher cost of getting into the 10s of dollars per user per month.
CA Strong Authentication
CA is a low-cost option that offers basic MFA and 2FA. It can offer software-based tokens for accessing company resources or applications. It can deliver tokens through voice, text, mobile apps and email messages. It works well on Windows-based servers and cloud-based services. CA works with Windows phones, Apple iOS and Android.
